WTF! Dershowitz claimed that it was okay for the president to hold up funds for the Ukraine because he was trying to get elected "in the public interest." Huh? Politicians can not cut corners to get elected just because they perceive what they are doing is in the "public interest." This is absurd, insipid and plain wrong. Elected officials are supposed to earn their status, not bowl over whomever is in the way and be rewarded for it. The whistleblowers from the impeachment pre-trial, who have spent decades serving our country, were slammed and smeared in the most egregious manner by Trump's lawyers, all to serve a president who has never been a public servant, certainly not before he took office. And one who betrayed all Americans after he wormed his way in.
When Dousche-owitz ended his spiel, there should have been audible cries of disgust from every attorney and politician in the room, or at least from the ones who have their head and conscience screwed on correctly.
This trial without any witnesses had me on the edge of tears. The outcome of this mess is alarming--it's going to to alter the future of American democracy. Presidents Day is coming up. With my Sharpie, I continue to add frames to calendars that say "Presidents Day." My parenthetical comment is "most of them."
